ROCKFORD, ILLINOIS
April 22-23, 2006
The MABAS Regional Technical Rescue Response Team Committee, in conjunction with Cherry Valley Fire Station #2, hosted a Regional Technical Rescue Drill on Saturday and Sunday (April 22-23, 2006). The drill consisted of teams from Illinois and one team from Wisconsin. Each team participated in Rope, Trench, Confined Space and Structural Collapse scenarios. The drill was planned for 20 hours (real time) with a critique at the conclusion. The committee selected Evaluators specializing in each type of rescue.
Officers in charge of the drill utilized the Incident Command System. The ICS operated from a mobile command trailer with radio operators. The staff included an Incident Commander along with Safety, Logistics, Rescue, PIO and EMS branches and the resources needed for these operations.
This drill provided an excellent opportunity to gain knowledge and experience of real life rescues.
